(rexx) Yes, I am using Post Road Mailer (PRM) also (see http://www.aescon.com/innoval - there is a demo version you can try). I took the source code for uu2pm.exe that comes with it and recompiled it using the Watcom C compier for OS/2 (with a couple of modifications to suit my taste). Post Road Mailer is not a perfect match with UUPC, in that it can not automatically see new email and you have to click on Refresh manually, but they do work pretty well together. To get PRM to work with UUPC, you need to use the Personal Post Office options on the Protocol settings page to point to outbasket and inbasket and directories (mine read s:\uupc\mail\stephen\outbaskt and s:\uupc\mail\stephen\inbasket respectively), and the Send message exit setting on the User exits page (mine reads f:\u\postroad\do_rmail.cmd). The do_rmail.cmd is below. I did not find any easy way to get PRM to run uu2pm.exe for me, but I did not try too hard as I run uuxqt from a batch file and I just added calls to uu2pm for each user *.SPB file in that batch file to be run every time uuxqt is run. This works well for running Pegasus for the DOS/Windows users here at work also. The line I use to run uu2pm is: f:\u\uupc\exe\uu2pm.exe %uupcdir%\mail\%user%.spb %uupcdir%\mail\%user%\inbasket where %user% is the user name (I have this line inside a for loop that substitutes all the users names). Note that I am actually using the new beta version of PRM (V1.05E) mostly - after you register PRM you can download the betas if you wish. If the authors of uu2pm do not have any objection, I could provide the OS/2 compiled version to anyone who needs it. rem Run rmail on a Post Road Mailer outgoing message file. path f:\u\uupc\exe;%path% set temp=f:\temp set uupcdir=s:\uupc set uupcsysrc=f:\u\uupc\digitech.rc set uupcusrrc=%uupcdir%\mail\stephen\stephen.rc set tz=NZT-12 set term=ansi set termcap=f:/u/gnuutils/termcap.dat rmail -t -F %1 exit -- Stephen Worthington Telephone: +64-4-569-6764 (home) Digi-Tech Communications Ltd +64-4-389-8909 (work) stephen@digitech.co.nz (work) Fax: +64-4-389-9901 (work) stephen@inisant.actrix.gen.nz (home) ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 16 May 1996 16:28:23 +0100 From: eric@terra.xs4all.nl Subject: UUCP and GUI-base Mail User Agent To: UUPC/Extended mailing list >>>>> hajo writes: > Hallo Tony, > Du schriebst am 14.05.96: >> If you want an os/2 based gui program, I reccommend POst road >> mailer > Since when does this interface to UUPC??? > And Postroad Mailer is useless for non-English users. It does depend a little on what you define to be a PM mail program, but I use mh-e here and that works just fine. Emacs runs in PM mode, so you might say that mh-e does as well. Emacs does support various character sets, and if it doesn't support all the ones you want you can use Mule (Multi Language Emacs, based on 19.28). With the tm package it also supports MIME. I checked with the host machine and it does support uucp (via uucpd) on port 540 as outlined in the reference guide. I'm fairly certian I configured UUPC properly (I've used an earlier version in the past so I'm fairly familiar with the package). I used the TCPIP.MDM file for the modem description and set the phone number in the SYSTEMS file to the uucp host (shore.shore.net) but when I try to connect I always get an error that no route to the host could be found. I know that I can see the host from my machine. I can ping the host without problems and I've connected to the host via ftp, www, and telent at various times during the past few days. Is there something I'm missing in the UUPC configuration? A partial trace of uucico is shown below. The trace is showing a Winsock error of 10065. It can be reached, amazing enough, at http://www.kew.com, assuming our link is up. (This has not been a high priority, since for a UUCP vendor a web site is a bit of an oxymoron. But the server was free, and we have a 28.8 PPP link which we run some of our UUCP over in addition to doing our own web browsing.) The guided download page (which is actually a shadow of our pre-existing Clarkson page) is in sad shape, but the Listserv/UUCP public download directories can be directly browsed (and downloaded, although due to the link speed you best enjoy pain.)
