To: UUPC/Extended mailing list Hello All, I have one questions. Now I use Unixware servers for transfer mail and files through dialup long distance line by means of UUCP protocol. Unixware UUCP protocol release can continue file transfer after connection resumption, if accidentally disconnection happen. It is very important for long distance bad quality line, that we have in Russia. Now I want to move all network task to NT servers and use UUPC/extended for dialup connection. As far as I know UUPC/extended can't support file transfer resumption after broken connection. Is it true? And if so, Is it being planed to support this feather in future release? I will not be able to use UUPC for NT untill this feather will be realized. Sometime in the next two weeks or so, only subscribers to the list will be able to post. The reason for this is quite simply to prevent bogus addresses from posting, although it will also prevent users who have not chosen to belong to ask questions (to which they can't get the reply any anyway). I intend on having a polite bounce message sent to the users suggesting they subscribe or send mail directly to me with their questions. I believe I can also add users (including digest readers) who do not actually receive uupc-info to be on the list silently; thus these users can post without actually receiving an extra copy of uupc-info. None of this will happen in the next 10 days or so, however, because my arm is in a sling from a pinched nerve, and quite frankly, it's a bitch to type. -- Drew Derbyshire UUPC/extended e-mail: software@kew.com Telephone: 617-641-3452 Win3.1? Everything was going great until some one asked for a uucp account. So any way I am trying to set this thing up but I can't see how to get it to do what I need. Any help or insight would great. I just want people to be able to dial in and connect and sain mail and get news. We run our own news server and mail server. Do I need to use send mail. What is send mail? Our domain is sisna.com. I ran the tests after installation and it seems to work execpt when I tell it to send out mail. It wants to dial out but I want it to just send it accross the internet. Unfortunately > I lost the message - but I would like to beta test the software! I'm the one who made that offer. The new SNews uses the inews program for outgoing news which should make it more versatile. I've had a report that the last release or two of UUPC/extended is incompatible with the new SNews, which is something I'll have to rectify. Send me email and specify MIME or uuencode and I'll send you SNews as it currently stands. >>> Dan dan@fch.wimsey.bc.ca / MIME email ok / finger danf@wimsey.com for pgp key ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 12 Oct 1995 09:14:47 GMT From: snorth@tedopres.nl Subject: Macintosh front end? From my point of view, trn is still the BEST NewsReader one can get for OS/2, if no local NNTP Server is available - as it'S the case here on scimitar.pb.owl.de - no ip or slip. If you 'need' another NewsReader, you might try tin or (new) tass (tassos2.zip), which is very tin alike, but with less problems using a likal NewsHirarchie. It seems to be, that rnews generates an uux.cmd, which feels the news to newsrun with an "-x" parameter without debugging-level, in words, something like "newsrun -x", were "newsrun" now junks the article(s) to /dev/null because of stdin-feeding and missing of the debug-level.
