I need to have more than 100 remote systems defined in passwd file. I use uupc 1.12k for OS/2 and somebody said that this limitation absent in 1.12n version. Please help me to receive it. The problem is I can use only FTP (FTP costs for me $1/Mb and kew.com mailserv costs $40/Mb). Is it possible to find this program using ftp? Please send your answers directly to my address because I'm not the subscriber of this list now because of expence of the international mail for me. Thank you. To: UUPC/Extended mailing list I offered Drew several times to put my service offer insert with uupc. He just doesn't want to, because he thinks there would be too much turnover. He has been waiting for me to go bancrupt ever since uupc12k....In fact, we have been around since 1988, and offering service since 1993.... Soon, there will be several different types of access, local, and over 800 number as well as some really neat surprizes for those of you who want a full large feed really bad.... So, if anyone is looking into uucp mail and newsfeeds, send mail to info@express.net....Subscribe now so that I can plan for your local access...Tell me about your modem speed, area_code-exchange (first 3 digits of your phone number you will be calling from) and what connection you prefer... Based on demand, I may even offer local access numbers after enough users in an area appear....until then, we'll handle it the most cost effective way for you.... Btw, online access is coming up at blisteringly low prices at warp speed (yes we support OS/2), hopefully to be announced in August.... > > On Mon, 24 Jul 95 22:13:52 -0500, "Gary A Zaidenweber" wrote: > > Isn't that the damndest thing. I did not use your business as an example, and the business I did use as an example is still very much providing reliable Internet UUCP and TCP/IP services to customers -- it has however dropped out of the home UUCP market because it's too labour intenstive. This is in line with recent media comments (i.e. Network World) about being a service provider and where the money is. > Soon, there will be several different types of access, local, and over > 800 number as well as some really neat surprizes for those of you who > want a full large feed really bad.... I contacted Delrina Corp and they recommended some tests on the modem, and if it failed those tests, to contact USR... I'll forward the tests tomorrow after I get back to work since I don't have the material here at home. However, for the USR 14.4 modem, there *are* problems with the firmware that are 'documented'. Our pastor would like to get onto the net at least for email (and maybe newsgroups). Knowing our budget I think that UUPC would be great but here are some questions I have: 1. How well does the DOS version of UUPC run under Novell? 2. Are there routines for Novell that will allow me to set up a 'cron' or 'uupoll' type job? (I am using uupoll on my OS/2 box and that is very easy, but I don't know if a 'cron' like job under Novell is going to consume the entire system.) 3. What email tools are available? Can I get elm for MS-DOS? Any advice would be appreciated. BTW: I am using UUPC on my OS/24Windows box and it works just fine.
