To: UUPC/Extended mailing list I have a Novell network with MHS v1.5 running on a machine. I need an MHS to UUCP gateway. I have a UUCP account with an internet provider, and I need to gate email from their UUCP account to MHS so that it can then be distributed out on our Novell network. There are two important things I need, a piece of software to make the UUCP connection, transfer the mail back and forth, AND to put the mail in the proper MHS format. My requirements may be a bit steep, but will uupc do this? If not, any ideas on a competitor that does this? -- Drew Derbyshire UUPC/extended e-mail: software@kew.com Telephone: 617-641-3452 "I just program for Drew because Binkley Bunny (who is as snowy white as I am) and Gunther Bear used to help Drew program from the top of kendra's monitor. They went west in September [1990] with Mom so that Mom and Binkley could work on their PhDs. That made the Wonderworks understaffed, so at Christmas [1990] Mom asked me to live with Drew." - Snuffles P. First off, I'm not sure UUCICO compiled with MS C compilers ever set the clock properly under DOS. On athena (our world roaming laptop running DOS), the last time we let it talk to NIST it reset the clock to GMT. Secondly, I tried to set athena's clock last night (Saturday), when GMT was already past two AM Sunday. This caused athena to prematurely leap to daylight savings time, because the computation was sloppy (it checked the day but not the hour). In total, five changes have been applied to the NIST code: 1) If you only call NIST, UUCICO no longer reports unable contact remote system at exit. 2) The NIST code has been internally restructured to break out the OS (DOS, OS/2, NT) specific time setting code. 3) The MS C DOS version of UUCICO now properly sets to the current time zone rather than GMT. 4) The US daylight savings determination is now made down to the hour rather then the day. 5) As an added bonus, UUCICO now reports the local system clock status in English, such as: nbstime: Local system clock was 2 seconds fast. nbstime: Local system clock was 5 seconds slow. nbstime: Local system clock was already correct. This will all be included in 1.12o. -ahd- -- Drew Derbyshire UUPC/extended e-mail: software@kew.com Telephone: 617-641-3452 "The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world." - William Ross Wallace ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Mar 1995 16:37:09 -0500 (EST) From: wieringa@egr.msu.edu Subject: UUPC-Info-Request Digest 1995 #9 To: UUPC/Extended mailing list > Date: Thu, 16 Mar 1995 00:28:51 -0500 > From: dbritch@super.org > Subject: Windows-aware Mail User Agent > To: UUPC/Extended mailing list > > Could someone reccomend a Windows mail reader? To my knowledge you have two options. One is called CMM 2.1. It is decent, and shouldn't be too hard to find on the FTP circuit (in uupc sections). CMM is crippled shareware. I don't know of an exact place to find it off the top of my head, but if you have trouble let me know. An alternative... I tried something called HellDiver (sp?) a year or two ago. Due to it's name, I couldn't use it (I install UUPC/Ext setups for other people) so I lost track of it. If I recall correctly, it had both mail and news built in to one program. Both of these programs are a couple of years old. I looked around the FTP sites about two weeks ago and couldn't find any new options. As a result I'm writing a new one for my special purposes - I'm not sure if it will be much of an improvement for others over CMM. dave -- _ Dave Wieringa _ // Amiga PGP Pub Key: send e-mail with subject="pubkey" East Lansing, MI \X/ 2000 Internet: wieringa@egr.msu.edu Senior CPE, Mich State Univ W.W.Web: http://web.cps.msu.edu/~wieringa/ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 19 Mar 1995 07:26:05 -0800 From: coffler@jeck.wa.com Subject: uupc <-> nns To: UUPC/Extended mailing list Hi, On Sun, 19 Mar 95 09:53:04 GMT, rlange@elvis.ruhr.de wrote: > Could please someone give a short description how to use nns with uupc under > Windows NT Server ? > > Thank you ! Set UUPC V1.12m or later to NNS mode, and point UUPC's news directory to be NNS's incoming news directory. That's it - everything will then work. To set UUPC V1.12m (or later) to NNS mode, turn off other news functions in the OPTIONS lines (like SNEWS, for example), and then set NNS in one of the OPTIONS lines in uupc.rc. -- Jeff -- ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 21 Mar 95 20:25:26 GMT From: rlange@elvis.ruhr.de Subject: uupc <-> smtp To: UUPC/Extended mailing list Hi, Do you see a way to tell ntmail (smtp and pop3-server under nt) to forward mail for certain users to uucp/rmail (uupc 1.12n)? I saw the references on pages 144-146 and 148 of adavanced.prn and dirk@omico.om.org's mail on 14-feb. Advanced.prn gives setup info, but I need some help on running the various programs and passing arguements to them. Also, I just uucp'd the upc12k?? set of files and the Windows versions came up as 1.12j.
